The Dorothy Clive Garden is to host a Bee Keeping talk on Saturday 1st March 2014 from 11.00 am to 12.30pm

19th February 2014

The Dorothy Clive Garden will be hosting a Bee Keeping talk on Saturday 1st 2014 at 11.00am to 12.30pm in the Garden Pavilion led by gardener and budding bee keeper, Zdenek Valkoun-Walker.

The talk, ‘An Introduction to Bee Keeping’ will focus on both practical and theoretical elements of Bee Keeping for beginners. The talk will also cover Bee physiology, the workings of a colony, plus the first steps to setting up your own apiary.

Gardener and budding Bee Keeper, Zdenek Valkoun-Walker said, ‘Bees are incredibly fascinating creatures and keeping them is a rewarding hobby, and the honey is obviously a bonus too. Keeping Bees and encouraging wild pollinators is important right now because of the global decline in the Bee population. Apart from other things, I will also be touching on how to encourage pollinators into your own garden.’’

The talk will take place from 11.00am to 12.30pm and costs £7.00 per person or £3.50 for Dorothy Clive Garden and RHS members.

The garden tearoom will be open from 10am to 4pm where visitors can buy hot and cold drinks, homemade soup and a selection of delicious seasonal cakes.
