Get fit and get involved at Dudmaston in September

6th August 2013

Get fit and get involved at Dudmaston in September Building on the success of last year’s event Dudmaston will once again be holding their annual 5k and 10k fun runs through the estate on 21st September 2013.

The routes start from Heath Farm Meadow, taking in the wonderful woodlands of Comer Wood and then lead you around the pools, the scenery is fantastic (if you’ve got time to look!) and those who took part last year were stunned by the beauty of the routes they were following. They are a challenge, however, so don’t be fooled into thinking that they are in woodlands, so all must be flat, there are some good climbs along the way. The property has taken this into account and the 5k is an easier route than the 10k and therefore aimed at the beginner runner. There will be medals to reward all runners so you will always have a memento of your day. Entry into the race costs £10 per person and is open to everyone to take part.

Not feeling fit enough? Then don’t worry there is still lots to get involved in at the Estate particularly if you are a vegetable grower. The property will be holding its annual Orchard Day event on 29 September but for the first time this year there will not only be stallholders selling lots of yummy treats but also a fun produce show taking part in the orchard. There are some fantastic fun categories to get involved in such as the ugliest potato for adults or the best Mr or Mrs Applehead for children. But that’s not all if you love cooking and have some wonderful apple recipes then the property wants to hear from you too, there will be a recipe tree in the Orchard and visitors are being invited to share their fantastic recipes with everyone who comes on the day by adding a recipe to the tree.

Property Administrator, Nikki Hook said “we are really looking forward to getting as many people as possible involved in both the fun run and orchard day. We had some fantastic runners last year, who braved what was the hottest day of the year. It was the first time many of the runners had seen this side of the estate and it was great to hear all their positive comments.”

“The produce show is a first for us and it’s going to be great fun, we are excited that Ryan Kennedy from BBC Radio Shropshire has agreed to judge the competition, and look forward to seeing all the entries. We hope that everyone will also get involved and share their recipe’s with us so we can all try out something new. If you can’t make it on the day but have a fantastic recipe to share we’d love to hear from you.”
