Golfing greats honoured at Hill Valley's new bar

2nd January 2013

A HOTEL sports bar is being revamped to honour golfing greats - including those who have graced its grounds.

The newly refurbished and renamed 'Masters Suite' at Macdonald Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf in Whitchurch will reopen at the end of January.

As well as redecorating and refurnishing the bar, photos of golfing legends who have won the Masters are being hung along the walls - including Ian Woosnam who worked and played at the hotel and won 47 worldwide tournaments.

Masters memorabilia will also be displayed in the bar, including a commemorative badge that is worn on the blazers of those who have won.

Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf has two 18 hole golf courses, designed by TV golfing stars Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, and the resort is one of the top 10 golf venues in the UK.

"Hill Valley is such a well-respected and well-established golfing venue it felt right to recognise that with our new-look sports bar - complete with large screen TV to show big sporting events and pool table - which will be an alternative option to our lounge bar," said Terence Southward, General Manager of the hotel.

"We wanted to freshen up the bar and give it a more modern look that is fit for 2013 and beyond."

The bar refurbishment comes just eight months after the hotel's spa underwent a £400,000 makeover to include a new Rasul facility, new spa lounge and additional treatment rooms.
