This year’s Rally has some new and exciting exhibits and events for visitors and the fantastic spectacle of superb steam engines, and beautifully preserved classic and historic vehicles from yesteryear will be delighting visitors to the County of Salop Steam Engine Society’s Rally which will take place at Onslow Park, (on the Welshpool Road out of Shrewsbury) on Sunday 26th August and Monday 27th August - on the August Bank Holiday.


Family Fun at Maize Maze!

Local farmer Christopher Williamson has created a Maize Maze on a 14-acre field in the beautiful setting of The Follies at Hawkstone Park, Weston Under Redcastle in Shropshire. The maize maze has just opened, and will run until Halloween in late October 2012, promising families a great fun day out, including a special Children’s Mini Maze and also a Children’s Obstacle Course.

With a fresh, open sky-scape design; a greater emphasis placed on rich content, such as video and podcasts; and much more intuitive navigation, the new website allows online visitors to interact rapidly with the Museum’s full collection before visiting the London and Cosford sites.

Ghosts and Ghouls Return to Blists Hill Victorian Town

Cosford turn back the clocks for 1940’s Dance

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will be turning back the clocks 70 years this October as they hold their annual 1940’s Hangar Dance. Tickets for the popular event, taking place at the Museum on Saturday 13th October have now gone on sale. This annual event transports guests back to the era of Big Bands, Jive Bunnies and Jitter-buggers with a fun packed evening of entertainment.

Golfers are invited to take part in a charity golf day which will raise vital funds for the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. The annual event takes place at Hawkstone Park on Wednesday, 3rd October. FLAXMILL INSPIRED EXHIBITON OPENS AT MARKET HALL

An exhibition of artwork inspired by Shrewsbury’s historic Flaxmill is now open to the public at Shrewsbury Market Hall. The Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings Touring Exhibition will be at the Visual Art Network gallery until July 28. The exhibit is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, between 10am and 4pm.

This summer holiday, the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has created a range of new and exciting interactive ‘August Activities’ that will get families working together and having fun. Each week throughout August will have an exciting activity dedicated to it. These creative and fun workshops will run from 1st to 31st August and all materials for these hands-on sessions will be provided by the Museum. Workshops will run from 11.00am-12.30pm and 2.00pm-3.30pm.
